Tom Sietas 22:22 Min Pure Oxygen Static
After some years of absence it seems that the king of breath hold, German Tom Sietas, is back. He did a 22:22 minute static on pure O2 that was being ratified by Guinness. The record was broken on May 30th in Changsha, China.
It appears it’s all part of a Chines TV program of showing what is possible. They also brought in Ricardo Bahia, former record holder with 20:21 minutes. Both freedivers appeared to do a duel against each other as well, where Tom won the duel with a 18:16 minute breath hold.
I guess his appearance is just for TV and we shouldn’t expect Tom to turn up at any freediving competitions any time soon. Too bad…
